meet April

Hi. I’m April Force Pardoe, interior designer and owner of April Force Pardoe Interiors, a residential interior design company in Howard County, MD.

I began designing spaces in my childhood room. Growing up my sister and I often swapped rooms and I loved the chance to design a new space. Years later I became interested in graphic design when I designed a brochure in a public relations class in college. Laying out pages, working with typography and creating effective communication pieces was a great way to merge my creative side with my organized side.

I earned a master of arts in publication design and began working as a graphic designer. This is when I realized my love of color and ability to create lovely color palettes. Graphic design eventually led me to event planning and design, where I oversaw large outdoor festivals and planned events in an art museum. This took my design skills from paper to spaces.

All of my graphic design, event management, marketing and public relations experience laid the groundwork for starting my interior design business in 2008. I realized that I had solutions for people who want a beautiful home, but aren’t sure how to create it. I enjoy sharing my talents and working with clients to make them comfortable with the design process. I have been told that if you work with me you’ll feel like a good, knowledgable friend is helping you with your design project.

After you get past the creative aspect of design (the pretty part), much of interior design is about problem solving, organizing and relationship building (the behind the scenes part). These are skills that I’ve honed for years and that I bring to every design job.

My clients come to me because they want stylish interiors but are overwhelmed by the process and are too busy to take it on themselves. They value the knowledge and experience a professional designer brings to the project and they are looking for quality furnishings and accessories to complete their rooms.

I provide rooms that match their lifestyle, reflect who they are and make a lasting impression. I narrow down decisions that would have taken them hours or days. I present solutions to their design challenges and I make sure all of the details are taken care of so they can live their lives and spend time doing the things they love.

Behind the scenes, I am a mother of two young girls, a wife and share my office with a chocolate lab, Roxy. Juggling life and design is a part of my life, therefore I understand how real life interacts with design and your home.

If you are looking for a designer who listens to your needs, can walk you through the creative process, manage the details of your project and create stylish and functional rooms you love to come home to, contact me and we’ll set up a time to chat about the next steps to make your house a home that gives you reason to smile every day.
