So, this is the part where I’m supposed to tell you all about myself. But first, I want to talk about you because the reason I’m an interior designer is for you.

I enjoy working with Empty Nest clients to create a home that nourishes them and their relationships, provides a foundation for a marriage that thrives and enables them to entertain guests with confidence and ease. This is your time and your home is here to support you.
The design process involves a lot of trust, so I make these agreements with my clients:
I will listen to you so I firmly understand your needs, likes and budget
Your finished home will reflect you and your style
My designs will be finished within the timeline set
While many of my clients have told me how much they love working with me (*yep, I’m blushing here*) my favorite time was when a client told me that working with me was like having a knowledgeable, trustworthy and FUN friend who designed her home like a best friend would.

Now, a bit about me…
I first became interested in design back in my childhood bedroom, which led me to starting my own interior design studio in Maryland. Along the way, I earned a master of arts in Publication Design and worked in both graphic design and event planning positions.
These diverse opportunities trained my eye in design skills from paper to space, and led me to open my studio in 2008.
I use my 7 Signature Steps to help you design an Empty Nest that make it easy to nurture yourself, enhance your connections with loved ones and provide you peace of mind for the days and years ahead.
To enhance my clients' projects, I've spent years building relationships with some of the area's most prestigious and talented home improvement professionals and artists.
When I’m not designing beautiful homes for clients, I’m busy as a wife and mother to two girls. My favorite coworker, who shares my office — and sometimes my lunch — is my chocolate lab, Roxy.

Meet Heather Brown. She creates the magic behind the scenes and keeps the design studio running.
Heather oversees purchase management, project installations, vendor relations, project presentations, and our social media. Heather manages initial client communication to ensure projects are carefully coordinated, and she keeps the office working like a well-oiled machine. Heather began her career in event planning at a historic Washington, DC hotel where she enjoyed both the organizing and design elements of events. When she’s not helping April bring clients’ design visions to life, she enjoys spending time with her husband, son and her dog, Boh.
