High Point Market Trends

I had the pleasure of taking my first trip to High Point Market this month. It was an amazing trip full of many, many, shiny, pretty, distracting things and fabulous people.

It was a whirlwind trip – moving fast for 3 days straight – but here are some of the things I saw over and over while there.

Texture! On tables, cabinets, mirror frames and trays!
Faux animal textures, prints, patterned papers and linens covered everything from mirror frames and trays to dressers. This is a nice change from wood, wood, wood.

To keep your look classic I’d limit these pieces to one per room or space to make an impact. Use these pieces to inject some fresh air into a room that is overly matchy-matchy.

Shells
Decorating with shells is not new, but these applications provide a twist on past uses. I saw a lot of shells on lamps, chandeliers and mirror frames. These are statement pieces to say the least! I liked some and others, well, not so much.

Tassels
I also saw tons of tassels and beads on lighting. The tassels are very glamorous and sophisticated. The beads feel very natural and casual, but are used in formal lighting.

I hope you enjoyed my photographic tour of a few trends I saw at this year’s Market. What is your favorite? What would you love to use in your home?

Happy decorating!
