Make your Holiday Guests Feel At Home

The calendar has turned to December (already!?) and you are ready to decorate your house for the holidays. The outside lights will twinkle, the holiday welcome mat will find its place at the front door and the mantle shall be trimmed. Next, it’s time to make your holiday guests feel at home. Here are a few quick ways to ensure that your home not only looks beautiful for the holidays, but perhaps more importantly, feels comfy and cozy for your guests!

Ditch the clutter. Straighten up all of those pesky papers on the counter, store away all the kid’s toys, and find a pretty basket for all your charger cords. Make your holiday guests feel at home.

Freshen up your guest bed. You may have washed and changed those sheets after your last house guests, but if it’s been more than a month, let’s face it – they may need to be freshened. Toss a new blanket across the bottom of the bed to add a touch of warmth & holiday to the bed.

Gather toiletries. While you’re checking on the guest bathroom, consider adding easy-to-grab travel-sized toiletries and new hand soap. Little touches like these go a long way toward making guests comfortable.

Take a good look at your bath towels. There’s something magical about new, fluffy towels. Nobody wants to shower in a strange bathroom and be greeted by shabby towels afterward.

Don’t forget the kitchen. Stock up on quick, easy-to-grab breakfast and lunch items. If you’re like me, you’re going to encourage guests to help themselves to food and drinks, so why not make it easy for them? Plan to visit Costco before the holidays and have some ready-made salads, drinks and snacks  for guests to grab at their leisure.

I hope these easy tips will make your holiday guests feel at home in your home this holiday season.
