Fashion Meets Design: A Look to Spring

February marks a beloved time of year in the world of fashion. Throughout the month, designers gather together in four of the world’s top fashion capitals to send their latest collections down the runway.

The interior design and fashion industries continuously inspire one another, new elements and trends emerging year-in and year-out. In celebration of fashion’s primetime and the much anticipated spring season, let’s take a look at how the runaway is finding its way into our homes.

Graphic Prints

Solids and simplistic patterns are making room on the runways for eye-catching geometric and graphic prints. At home, try pattern mixing with your throw pillows - check out my YouTube video to learn how to pattern mix like a professional. Another great place to put this trend to use is your flooring. Elevate a bathroom or kitchen remodel with a unique patterned floor tile.

Lavender

Undoubtedly, the “it” color of 2018 is purple. Between the fashion world’s influencers and the powers at Pantone, designers everywhere are soaking up inspiration in shades of lavender and Ultra Violet this year. Entertain the idea of rejuvenating a room-in-need with a shade of lavender paint.

Bold Florals

These are not your grandmother’s florals. Bolder color combinations and oversized prints are taking center stage in the Spring 2018 fashion shows. Translate this trend to your home with a breath of floral air on your walls or with your choice of upholstery fabrics.

Fringe

“What’s old is new again,” as the saying goes, and with that Spring 2018 collections showcased their fair share of fringe. Short shags and long wisps swaying a la 1970s, but a far cry from the days of disco and flower power. Factor fringe into your home’s decor by way of embellished area rugs, woven wall art or shaggy throw pillows.
