Holiday Decor: A few of my favorite things (Part 1)

In spirit of all of the things merry & bright, I’m sharing some of my favorite holiday decor items to help spread that seasonal feeling throughout your home. This series will touch on different elements to embrace and sources of inspiration to seek out as you dig into decorating for this festive time of year. My 13 favorite decor ideas can translate to whichever holiday you may celebrate in your home and extend through wintertime, too!

Evergreens

Evergreens to me, nothing says “holiday season” more than fresh evergreens. It’s truly the perfect complement to any style and adds a natural touch to your collection of accessories. The shapes, the texture, oh and the smell! Whether it is a wreath accenting a door or window, sprays of loose branches in nooks or crannies or an organic arrangement in a festive container, the possibilities are endless. Mix colors and textures to keep things interesting!

Lights

Lights can extend beyond your home’s exterior and the branches of your tree. I love the sparkle they create throughout the house; I feel it adds that certain warm & fuzzy, festive mood that accompanies this time of year. Wrap lights around your banisters or columns or accent the boughs on your fireplace mantle with strings. For a cohesive look, match your holiday decor lights with the palette you opt to use on your tree.

Glass containers

Source containers from around your home and put them to extra special use this season. Toss in some light strings for a holiday glow, fill with seasonal items like pinecones or ornaments, or add some warmth to your space with the glimmer of candles. Consider clustering varying shapes, sizes and height together for a holiday decor statement.
