My favorite guest room items

If you are looking to add a few special touches to your company’s quarters, you’re in luck! I’ve put together a list of my favorite guest room items to help inspire your design decisions and offer your visitors a warm welcome. These items may all be simple and standard, but they each can serve a great purpose and look great, too.

Unpack and unwind:

1. Accent pillow – I love all things typography, so what better way to convey a “welcome home” message than with a decorative item featuring a charming font. Top off your guest bed, bench or chair with an inviting accent pillow. {From: Cover Love.}

2. Luggage rack – A great gift to your guests is the comfort offered by unpacking atop a luggage rack. I love the Greek key ribbon on this one in particular. Racks also make for a great tool in small guest spaces where storage may be minimal.{From: Gate House Furniture.}

3. Wall hooks – “Hang your coat up, stay a while.” Well, this set of dot wall hooks asks your guests to do just that! The wooden hooks can be arranged in a cute cluster or scattered throughout your guest room as wall space permits, perfect for a purse, coat or robe. {From: CB2.}

4. Baskets – I love the simplicity and detail on this coiled basket. I’d personally fill it with bath and hand towels for my guests, but you could also use to it decoratively store an extra blanket or magazines. {From: Target.}

5. Water carafe – I often wake up wanting a sip or two of water at night, and this little carafe is a convenient thirst quencher. Even better, the glass does double duty as a lid when not in use. {From: Rejuvenation.}

6. USB Port Table Lamp – Visitors need to rest and recharge after a day of travel and so does their personal devices. This functional yet fashionable table lamp provides just the place to power up without having to hunt for outlets. {From: Lamps Plus.}

7. Note pad – Sometimes the smallest of just-in-case conveniences, like a note pad and pen, are the most appreciated by guests. Not to the mention a stylish cover makes for an adorable tabletop accessory. {From: Anthropologie.}

8. Bedside tray – This little guy can store your water carafe and snacks and offers your guests a pretty place to toss loose change or glasses. A fresh flower in a bud vase would provide the perfect finishing touch! {From: The Container Store.}

The local flavor:

9. Welcome basket – I especially enjoy sharing local treats with my out-of-town guests. For a warm and fuzzy welcome, fill a decorative basket with a stash of individually wrapped salty and sweet snacks. {From: Jeppi Nut & Candy Company.}

10. Sweet indulgences – Rather than put a chocolate on your guests’ pillow, share a favorite or homemade sweet treat instead. My favorite indulgence is the infamous Baltimore Bergers cookie. Add a personal touch to your dessert delivery with a handwritten welcome note! {From: Bergers.}

11. Tasteful token – For a special token of hometown hospitality, give your guests the gift of a local libation. I love offering my visitors something they can’t find at home! If you know your guests well, customize the in-room amenity to their personal taste. A bag of locally roasted coffee is a great alcohol alternative. {From: Boordy Vineyards.}

Warning: any one of these additions to your guest room may encourage your overnighters to overstay! What are your favorite guest room items? Visit our guest room Pinterest board for more ideas on making your guest room great.
