Family Room Design for The Washington Post

I had the pleasure of designing a family room for The Washington Post’s House Calls feature on Sept. 2. This is essentially a virtual or e-deisgn, meaning the space is designed via email only with no in-person visits. Really!

The homeowner submits a space in need of design help to The Post and The Post pairs that space with a designer who creates a design to fit the homeowner’s needs and budget.

The family was struggling setting up their furniture in this room because it has many doors and windows. They love the brick and wanted to keep the fireplace as a focal point, along with the television. Increased seating was on their “must have” list for this family room design. A large sectional increases seating and table lamps add a lot of functionality to this space.
