This condo is the clients’ first home and they didn’t want to make any mistakes when it came to decorating. They waited to purchase anything until they met with April Force Pardoe Interiors and had a design plan. Our first few meetings took place on folding chairs!
They wanted to decorate the living room as a sophisticated, uncluttered space that allowed them to entertain friends and family but also enjoy watching a movie together. They wanted to include a television, but not as the focal point of the room. We mounted the TV on the wall so it didn’t overpower the space. A sparkly pair of sconces were placed on either side of the TV to add necessary light (and a pretty touch) to the room. An upholstered bench under the TV holds treasures, but can also be relocated for additional seating.
The couple wanted to seat 6 at their dining table. We found a table that could open to seat 6, but when closed is nice for 4. We hung a glamorous chandelier over the dining room table and surrounded it with slipcovered chairs with a trendy green pattern.
Storage was a big challenge in this condo and we wanted a show stopper in the dining room. April Force Pardoe Interiors found a fabulous old cabinet that was slightly modified and given a custom paint finish to create a one-of-a-kind focal point and storage piece. The custom dining room cabinet is two pieces and can be separated and used in many ways in future homes.
The main living room furnishings are neutral and we added colors via pillows and slipcovers. Drapery panels were hung high on the wall and frame the window, adding softness to the room. The walls of the dining and living rooms were painted a warm, soft gray. A paintable wallpaper was used on the living room walls to add texture and subtly differentiate the separate rooms within a large space.
From the client: April Force Pardoe Interiors is accommodating and always accessible…great recommendations for outside contractors…prompt service…delivered what was outlined in the contract…displayed sound knowledge and expertise…April is truly gifted at what she does because she is personable. What really sold me during our consultation was her warm spirit and her ability to listen to my ideas. After our first in-person meeting, I had total confirmation that we selected the right person to decorate our first home. After working with April for the past 2 years, she has become a household name and trusted resource. ~ S.P., Owings Mills
