Project overview: The clients had been in their home for 20 years and were anticipating a move in the next few years. They realized they would need to update their large master bathroom to attract buyers. So, they sought to replace the large tub and tub deck, which took up a large portion of the room. They also wanted to add storage, maintain a seated vanity area, add more lighting and include a foot rest in a new, larger shower.
April Force Pardoe Interiors began by discussing the “feeling” the client wanted in the room. The client used words like “beachy,” “soft,” “soothing colors” and “clean lines” to describe the feeling they wanted when they entered their completed master bathroom retreat.
A space plan was created to maximize the layout and storage space. We borrowed some space from a closet in an adjoining bedroom to make the shower larger, closed off the small linen closet at the entrance of the room so the room no longer had back-to-back doors, added two large storage cabinets in the dramatic full wall of cabinetry, and included a smaller-scale stand-alone tub under the windows.
The room has full privacy, so the windows were left uncovered to maximize the natural light in the room. Recessed lighting was added on the ceiling, and each vanity station received an overhead light. Water-resistant wainscoting was used around the room to add to the “beachy” feeling. The hexagon-shaped marble tiles materials adds visual interest to the soothing palette. The results? A soothing master bathroom.
