Acrylic and glass on furniture has been showing up for a while and is still hot. I recently attended the High Point Furniture market (HPMK) and saw many great furnishings and trends. That’s kind of an understatement considering I spent 3 solid days just looking at furniture, accessories and rugs! I’m often asked “what are the furniture trends?” so I thought I’d share a few of my favorites with you from HPMK. Acrylic and glass are still hot.
Here are a few images from HPMK showing the various ways companies are including acrylic and glass in furniture.
I love how these small ottomans appear to float. They are great for an extra seat or two in any room. I would love them at the foot of a bed or tucked under a console for extra seating in a living room.
This console table has such a clean look and the glass support makes it a bit off balance — in a good way.
Metal mixed with acrylic is also very hot right now so putting both together, with a great round shape, gives this sofa, with classic tufting, a nice modern look.
This round side table mixes a grainy wood top (heavy texture) with clean, acrylic legs. A mix of two textures makes this an interesting table.
I especially like this trend because the acrylic and glass add a modern touch to a space. Since they are clear they also allow a piece to feel less heavy and it’s nice to break way from all wood bases. Don’t you agree? In my projects I use trends sparingly as the projects allow, giving my clients a touch of something current in an overall classic design.
Stay tuned for more of my favorite trends from HPMK on the blog.
